Akerman is proud to share that the fifth edition of Immigration Law for Paralegals, co-authored by Immigration Planning and Compliance Practice Chair Marisa Casablanca, is now available from Carolina Academic Press.

The book is a practical guide to U.S. immigration, citizenship, and visa procedures for immigration professionals and those studying to join the profession. Updates in this edition include coverage on Temporary Protected Status (TPS), along with updating documents to submit, new regulations, and updated policies. Other topics covered: interviewing, gathering information, case management, and document preparation techniques; analysis of temporary and permanent employment visas; analysis of family-based petitions, political asylum, and naturalization; and samples of completed applications, a glossary of terms, and useful appendices.

Casablanca has represented corporate clients and individuals in obtaining immigration assistance and benefits for more than three decades. She is board certified in immigration and nationality law by the Florida Bar, was a member of the Florida Bar’s Certification Committee for Immigration and Nationality Law, and chairs the Florida Bar Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee (11D). She has also served on national liaison committees with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Department of State.
