Top national law firm Akerman is pleased to announce that nine lawyers in its Chicago office were named to the 2024 edition of Super Lawyers Magazine. Five lawyers were ranked Super Lawyers, including White Collar Crime and Government Investigations Co-Chair Sergio E. Acosta, Litigation Partner Mark S. Bernstein, Litigation Partner Joel D. Notably, Acosta was named among Super Lawyers’ “Top 100: 2024 Illinois Super Lawyers." The list recognizes those who scored the highest among 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement as part of Super Lawyers’ rigorous selection process.

Acosta, a former federal prosecutor and Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers with over 70 jury trials to his credit, has extensive experience defending companies and individuals in criminal and regulatory proceedings, conducting internal investigations and counseling clients on compliance programs and related issues.

Akerman's Chicago office, led by Office Managing Partner Amy G. Doehring, has grown to 52 lawyers with litigation and transactional strengths in a range of practices and client sectors, including financial services, land use and real estate, M&A and private equity, labor and employment, healthcare, intellectual property, bankruptcy and reorganization, tax and trusts and estates, as well as white collar crime and government investigation matters.
