Akerman will host a webinar titled, "Dealing with COVID-19: Important Legal and Practical Considerations for Employers." During this webinar, our labor and employment partners will discuss shutdowns and furloughs (including notice issues), wage and hour issues, and paid vs. unpaid time off issues (including an in-depth discussion of pending federal legislation that, if passed, will mandate that certain employers provide paid leave to workers affected by the current crisis). They also will address how to avoid violating existing federal disability discrimination laws, employee benefit plan funding and coverage concerns, employee privacy concerns, and compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, among other practical and legal considerations.
