Akerman is sponsor of the 25th Annual Justice Robert Benham Awards Ceremony for Community Service presented by the Georgia Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism to be held in Atlanta. Since 1998, the Benham Awards have been presented to honor lawyers and judges in Georgia who have made significant contributions to their communities and who demonstrate the positive contributions of members of the bar beyond their legal or official work. 

These awards are named in honor of The Honorable Robert Benham who, during his term as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia from 1995 to 2001, focused the attention of lawyers and judges on the community and public service aspects of professionalism.
