Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced the continued growth of its Labor & Employment Practice Group with litigator Lillian Moon in the Orlando office. Moon joins as a partner and brings significant experience in workplace safety, data privacy and security issues.

"We anticipate a shift in the labor and employment law landscape that will lead to a number of new opportunities and challenges for our clients. We continue to expand and diversify the skills of our national team to further meet our clients' changing business needs," said Eric Gordon, chair of Akerman's Labor & Employment Practice Group. "Lilly's practice deepens our labor and employment bench and enhances our growing data privacy and security capabilities in major business centers throughout the country."

Moon is a litigator and a former appellate lawyer with the Office of Solicitor, Occupational Safety and Health Division, for the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. A significant portion of her practice is dedicated to counseling employers on privacy law obligations and policies, data breach issues, written information security programs (WISP), as well as HIPPA, ERISA and Privacy Act requirements when establishing corporate electronic recruitment, application and on-boarding practices. She also advises employers on workplace safety and health issues, including all aspects of all OSHA inspections, investigations, citations, settlement negotiations and preventative practices.

She routinely defends clients in federal and state courts, in arbitrations, and before the EEOC and other administrative agencies. She is experienced in all aspects of employment litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including class action and individual claims of wage and hour violations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, trade secrets, breach of contract and whistleblower actions. Her clients include companies in the construction, real estate, manufacturing, insurance, education, restaurant, retail and hospitality sectors, among others.

Moon joins one of the best workplaces in Central Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel's Top 100 Companies list. Akerman's Orlando office includes nearly 60 lawyers and is top-ranked in 15 practice areas, including banking and finance, commercial litigation, and real estate, among others (U.S. News – Best Lawyers). In addition to Orlando, Akerman's Labor and Employment Practice Group also deepened its experience this year in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and New York with a number of notable partners, including immigration lawyer Maria Casablanca and litigators Thomas Mandler, Bran Noonan, Sarir Silver and Rachel Schumacher.
