Six Akerman lawyers have been named to the DC Courts’ Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll for 2025. The recognition honors members of the DC Bar who devoted the requisite number of pro bono hours during the prior calendar year. The honor includes two levels of recognition: The Honor Roll, for lawyers who devoted 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services during the year, and the High Honor Roll, which recognizes lawyers who dedicated at least 100 pro bono hours in the year.

We are pleased to announce that associate Nicole Villamar was named to the High Honor Roll, while five of our lawyers, including partners Ildefonso Mas and Steven Paletz and associates Megan Coughlin, Rachel Gillooly, and Amanda Weinick, were named to the Honor Roll.

Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby and Chief Judge Milton C. Lee, Jr. issued a letter to the Honor Roll members, highlighting that “pro bono participation is simply indispensable to the efficient functioning of our civil justice system.” The Judges applauded Honor Roll members “for answering – and in many cases exceeding – the call to service embodied in the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct to perform at least 50 hours of pro bono service each year.”
