The Daily Business Review featured Akerman’s growth over the last year, particularly noting its “strong transactional performance and lateral growth.” The article titled, “Akerman Sees Income, Revenue Rise in Year of Unexpected Leadership Shift,” profiled the firm’s rise in gross revenue, revenue per lawyer, and progress in diversity.

Andrew Smulian, Akerman Chairman and CEO, contributed the firm’s success to the robust performance by the corporate, real estate, financial services and litigation groups. Smulian tied the firm’s 2018 lateral growth to client demand and growth in several key markets.

“We will continue to focus on the area of our core strengths including middle market M&A, Latin America, financial services and real estate,” Smulian said. “The lateral strategy is going to continue much the same.”
