Akerman Labor and Employment Partner Mishell Parreno Taylor provided the Wall Street Journal some insight into the recently enacted PUMP Act. The law, which went into effect just before the new year, expands the employment protections previously afforded to nursing employees through the Break Time for Nursing Mothers Law (Break Time Law).

Not complying with the law could result in fines and lawsuits. Parreno Taylor told the Journal employers should carefully train front-line managers about the law and how to administer breaks.
