Two Akerman Atlanta attorneys have been recognized by Law.com's 2026 Southeastern Legal Awards, presented by the Daily Report. Litigation Partner Brittanie Browning has been named an "On the Rise in Georgia" winner, and Litigation Associate Pia-Milan Green has been named a finalist for "Most Promising Newcomer."
The Southeastern Legal Awards celebrate outstanding achievement across the legal community in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The On the Rise in Georgia category spotlights emerging attorneys who are making a significant impact in the state, while the Most Promising Newcomer category recognizes early-career lawyers who have quickly distinguished themselves through talent, initiative, and promise.
Brittanie focuses her practice on litigation and appellate matters, with a particular emphasis on insurance coverage and insurance litigation. She guides clients through all stages of litigation, from pre-litigation through trial and appeal, and has successfully argued motions before federal and state courts, including before the Eleventh Circuit. She also litigates in alternative dispute resolution forums, including mediation and arbitration. Brittanie has been recognized by Best Lawyers as "One to Watch" in Georgia for Appellate Practice, Education Law, Government Relations Practice, and Insurance Law and by Super Lawyers as a "Rising Star" for General Litigation. The American Bar Association honored her with its national On the Rise Award, recognizing her as one of the top 40 young lawyers in the United States.
Beyond her practice, she currently serves as chairperson of the State Bar of Georgia's Finance Committee, a member of the Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a distinction reserved for less than one percent of lawyers nationwide. Brittanie previously served as president of the State Bar of Georgia's Young Lawyers Division and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Pia-Milan focuses her practice on complex insurance coverage disputes, commercial litigation, and employment matters. In just two years at the firm, she has distinguished herself through exceptional legal acumen, initiative, and judgment, earning the trust of senior trial counsel and clients in high-stakes matters across multiple courts. She is an active member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the Atlanta Bar Association, and she was recognized on Akerman's 2024 Pro Bono Honor Roll and by the New York County Lawyers Association for her outstanding commitment to pro bono service.
All honorees will be celebrated at a gala on May 7, 2026, in Atlanta.
