vCard

Gina DelChiaro is a partner and the firm's Director of Pro Bono Initiatives, a signature program designed to cultivate pro bono opportunities that leverage the skills and interests of Akerman lawyers to meet the legal needs of those who are least able to afford and most in need of legal services. Gina has nearly 15 years of experience working on pro bono initiatives, most recently at Lawyers Alliance for New York where she served as their corporate engagement counsel, managing pro bono projects for in-house counsel from corporate legal departments to assist nonprofit organizations. She also helped organize pro bono projects with a national network of pro bono providers, serving nonprofits in 15 cities around the United States, and advancing the field of business law pro bono nationwide. In addition, Gina spent six years as an attorney for Human Rights First where she launched and managed a pro bono program with law firms and corporations, focusing on providing legal representation to refugees, asylum seekers, and other immigrants. Prior to that, Gina was an associate at an AmLaw 10 firm, focusing her practice on regulatory enforcement, securities and commercial litigation, capital markets transactions, and a variety of pro bono, including capital litigation and immigration matters.

At Akerman, Gina works with firm colleagues to determine how they can give back to their communities on issues as diverse as children in disputed relationships, civil rights, veterans affairs, and immigration. She works with lawyers throughout the firm to match their skillsets with community needs. From directing the firm's advocacy for juveniles in the courts to leading litigation that effects broad-based, societal change, Gina is at the forefront of Akerman's pro bono impact.
