Akerman will be recognized as the Equal Justice Pro Bono Impact Award 2019 recipient by Legal Services of Greater Miami. The honor is in connection with the dedication to pro bono by Miami lawyers Akivia Bassaragh, Luis Casas Meyer, Terron Clark, Dee Dee Fischer, Angelica Fortney, Joanne Gelfand, Denise Gavica Perez, Alexander Prieto, and Victoria Samuels. 

Akerman will be honored during a celebration on October 24, which coincides the American Bar Association’s annual pro bono week. 

Each year, Legal Services of Greater Miami handles a variety of civil legal matters benefiting more than 20,000 individuals and families, recovering almost $2.6 million for clients in disability, unemployment, child support, and government benefits.
